A Day in the Life of Tzolkin Xantara 2
This is a second RP of Tzolkin doing his job. With a twist! Lunch break, and helping ferals..
Characters: Tzolkin, Zen, Kieran, Terri
LVC: WS -- Tailor's Shop
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Tailor's shop is a rather large room, perhaps the size of two apartments. Brightly lit by the bank of windows at the back of the room and the flickering golden light of oil lamps, the tailor's shop is well-fit to do its purpose. There are three drafting tables against one wall, where the clothing designers and pattern-makers do their craft. A few torso dummies in common sizes are here to assist in making uniform patterns or serve as stand-ins for rats too busy to come in for a fitting. A bank of mirrors, two elevated platforms, and several changing rooms are here, as well.
A single door along the western wall leads [Out] to the corridor.

Sleepers: Timothy Darius Regellan
With: [OOC] Zen
*Click* The door to the Tailor's Shop slowly creaks open, pushed by the colony's resident tailormouse, Tzolkin. As usual, he's wearing his half-apron, only he wears a dark brown cloak over his shoulders in addition. He pads over to a nearby gas stove and begins priming it for ignition, rubbing his paws together for warmth.
Regellan
Regellan isn't the most striking rat. His pelt is a dingy, rather dirty-looking grey-brown, although it's apparently well-kept; he just can't seem to make it look any better than what nature gave. His physique isn't particularly remarkable, either. While he's certainly no slouch, he does have a bit of a tummy, and his muscle-mass isn't what he had in his youth.
His face is pleasant, though, and a genial smile is almost always on his muzzle. Silky whiskers span outwards beyond a dull-salmon nose, and his eyes are a generous brown.
Perhaps the only thing that could be considered unusual about this rat is his clothes. Fine, elegant creations are his favorite attire, if his present adornments are any gauge. Rich colors -- reds, blues, and yellows, today -- are intricately knit and tailored and finely worn.
As it should be, since he's the colony's tailor.
Tzolkin gets the stove going, holding his paws out near it and letting the influx of warm air breeze through his fur. Then he sets to work, checking the task board for repair jobs or new garment requests which aren't too large for a mouse to handle.
Zen seems to have fallen asleep in the shop! Lazzy, good for nothing... uh.. well, he's cute, right? Anyways, he yawns a bit and waves a paw at Tzolkin as he slowly comes to his senses.
Tzolkin checks the clock. 9 AM. Just three hours until lunch break. He grabs a repair slip off the task board and grabs the project from its corrosponding cubby hole, laying it out on the table. He chuckles to himself. "Another guard uniform. I should have guessed." Catching movement from the corner of his eye, the tailormouse blinks. "Wha? Oh.. Were you in here all night?" he asks.
Zen smiles and gets to his feet, nodding his head. "Oh yes! It's quite a nice place, don't you think?" He chuckles and points at the mirror. "It seems that mouse is a rather quiet one too.. Didn't hear a single peep from him."
Tzolkin smiles a bit, nodding. "Huh. Regellan must have thought it best not to wake you." he says, making a quick hop over to the cupboard to retrieve a bit of scrap fabric for patching. "It is fairly quiet here, I have to admit."
Zen nods his head a little and glances about. He tilts his head curiously, "So uh... what do you have to do today? I mean... it seems that everyone is always bussy here."
Tzolkin nods to Zen, cutting the fabric into shape with scissors. "True enough. There's always something to do. My job is to make and repair clothes for the smaller members of the colony." he replies, snapping his fingers as he remembers something. "Speaking of which, didn't you have a request we were working on yesterday?"
Zen nods his head and smiles. "Oh I see. The dress? OH yes! The dress!" he smiles and nods his head. "We were talking about a dress for Terri!" He smiles and stretches a little, moving over to the tailormouse.
Tzolkin smiles whiskerly, and nods. "Thought so. You said she was similar in body proportions to you, and that you wanted it to be a surprise, yeah?" he asks, getting a a needle, thread, and a small bottle from the cabinet. He sets them on the table and starts to turn the uniform inside-out.
Zen nods his head and smiles. "Yup! Hehe, do you think she'd like a dress? I think she would." He watches curiously, thinking a bit. He looks around and paces over to the mirror, fidgeting with it just a little. Gently poking at it and makeing faces.
Tzolkin puts a bit of the sticky liquid contained in the bottle on the scrap fabric, waiting for a moment before pressing it to the smoothed inside of the uniform. "I think most colony ladies like dresses, yes." He smirks, watching the other mouse. "You know that is just going to do exactly the same thing as you, no matter what, right?"
Zen blinks. "Oh? I... I didn't know that... Hey... quit copying me you.... I should show you a thing or two..." He nips at the mirror again with yet another *clank* "Hey! Your trying to start something, aren't you?!?"
Tzolkin is about to start sewing the patch onto the uniform when he hears the clank, cringing slightly. Good thing he was wearing a finger-guard. "Hey, let me show you something." he says, padding over to the mirror. His reflection appears beside Zen's. "This," he points out, "is called a mirror. When you look into it, you see yourself, only reversed. Whatever you do, your reflection will do." He waves his arm, and his reflection does the same. "But the mirror is just a thing. There isn't really another mouse on the other side."
Zen blinks and then smiles. "Oh... Oh!! I see! Heh, so.... there's not realy another mouse making faces at me? Hehe, that's good!" He smiles and waves a paw at the mirror, chuckling softly.
Tzolkin smiles, "Right. We use this so that rodents trying on their clothes can look at themselves in the mirror to decide if they like what they're wearing." He pats Zen on the shoulder and goes back to work, quickly finishing up the stitching around the patch, and turning the uniform right side out. He then folds it and places it on the pickups shelf with its repair form pinned to the collar. "So, you wanted me to get your measurements and base the dress from those?" he asks.
Zen nods his head and watches Tzolkin work. "Oh, yea. Hehe, That was it." He looks around, pacing towards Tzolkin and stopping briefly to glance back at the mirror.
Tzolkin nods, grabbing a small piece of paper and a pencil, jotting a few notes down on it. He then gets a small tape measure from a nearby table, and walks back towards Zen. He points to an area of the wall near the mirror which has little marks going all the way up. "If you would just stand straight against that wall on your hind paws, we'll measure your height." he requests. "By the way, since you seem to be sticking around, was there any kind of clothing you might like? Something to keep warm, maybe?"
Zen stands where he was directed, then his head tilts a little. "You mean... you'd make me clothes? I-I guess... I would like something to wear... Heh, would you make me a dress too if I did ask for something? Oh, or what other clothes could you make me?" His head tilts curiously.
Tzolkin shrugs, taking a straight stick and balancing it over Zen's shoulder, writing a number down and an annotation '(-2)'. He chuckles, "Well, maybe not a dress. Guy mice don't wear those. But there are all sorts of practical clothes I could make." He motions for Zen to stand away from the wall, "Okay, just stand up straight on your hind paws over here, and hold your arms out like this." The tailormouse holds his arms out to each side, demonstrating. "Gonna measure your waist and such."
Zen nods his head a little and watches curiously as he's measrurd. "Oh, so... guy mice have diffrent clothes than girl mice? Heh, I didn't know!" HOlding his arms out to the side, he hrmms softly. "Like this?"
Tzolkin nods, and continues to work, measuring the circumference of Zen's chest with the tape measure, and writing the measurement and estimated offset on the paper. "Yes, very good. To answer your question," he replies, measuring Zen's waist, "girl mice and guy mice wear different clothes. I never quite understood it, but the rodents here get confused if the clothes you wear don't match your gender, or if you're not wearing anything." The tailormouse finishes measuring Zen's hips/haunches, and makes another note, finally moving to measure the distance between Zen's under-arm and hip.
Zen giggles and chuckles softly as he's measured. "Tehehe... th.. that tickles... hehe..." He listens in a bit and looks a bit confused. "Oh.. so... they can't tell by scent? I mean, girl mice have always had somewhat a sweeter smell than boy mice cause boy mice do all the fighting from what I know." He chuckles a little and giggles.
Tzolkin smirks, nodding as he writes another measurement down on the paper. "Okay, you can put your arms down now." he says, moving on to measure the width of Zen's shoulders. "That's what I had thought, too. But apparently that's not always the case. Some females here do as much of the heavy work as the guys." He shrugs, "Anyway, does the design you picked have sleeves?"
Zen listens in a little and nods, then ponders. "OH uh... I don't know. To girl mice like sleeves? I guess I didn't think of that. Maybe? Sure! The more the better, right?" He watches Tzolkin, then sighs. "So much confusion! I've always learned the males do the work and the females nurture the children! Hehe, wasn't that enough work for them?"
Tzolkin smirks and splays his ears sideways. "Well, it's not always better to have more. Some females like to show their arms. Others don't. It really depends on the girl." he replies, shrugging. "What kinds of clothes does your wife usually wear? What is it that makes her feel pretty?" he asks. The tailormouse measures the circumference of Zen's upper arm, then its length from shoulder to wrist.
Zen blinks a little at the question and rubs his head. "Hrmm.. uh.. wh.. what does she wear? I don't know... I mean... I've never realy cared much... Uh... just... something like... I don't know." He blushes a little and rubs his head, "Uh... as for what makes her feel pretty... uh... I don't know that either.. i knows something sparkly would make me feel pretty I guess but... hrmm... I don't know." He blinks and rubs his head.
Tzolkin blinks as well, ears folding back for a moment. "Huh.. Well, how about we leave the sleeves off for now? I can always add them later." he suggests, making some final notes on the paper. "You'd have to go see the Jeweler to get anything sparkly, and even then it might be hard to get."
Zen nods his head a little and smiles. "Ok... that sounds good. Uh... who is the Jeweler? Is he a nice person? I mean... heh, would he give me any sparkly things?" He taps his chin and hrmms... then smiles. "Oh, her name! Hehe, she's been trying to get me to read and write and such so maybe if you could put her name on like... uh... on it somewhere?"
Tzolkin rubs his chin, trying to remember. Finally, he sighs, "I don't know much about him, offhand. The last time I went to a Jeweler was when I was getting married at another colony." he replies. The tailormouse blinks a bit in response to Zen's request. "Well, I think I could. The question would be where it would look good in the design. Hmm.." His ears perk, suddenly. "Maybe if I made the dress so that it's held up by arm-bands instead of straps? Then I could put her name on the arm-band, and if she wore a necklace it would contrast against her fur." He pauses, "What is her name, anyway?"
Zen nods his head a little and smiles. "Oh, that sounds verry nice! Yup!" He smiles and keeps from bouncing off the walls, but then goes a bit silent at the question, "Uh... well... er... you... won't tell none... right? Uh.. if I get in trouble, I can't have her no I'm in trouble... She'd be mad.. but... her name is Terri." He smiles and nods his head a little, then looks around curiously...
Tzolkin nods, making the final notes on the paper, then pins it to his own personal task board. "There we go. I'll have it boxed and ready for you in a couple of weeks." he says, checking the time again. A half past 11. Almost time for lunch. Tzol looks around momentarily. "Terri.. That's a nice name. Don't worry, Zen. Your secret is safe with me." he says, blinking a few times. "Okay.. where were we..? Ah, I was going to show you what clothes I have on hand, if you're still interested."
Zen nods his head and blushes softly. "Yea... a beautiful name for such a beautiful mouse... I tell you, I'd give the sun for her.." He smiles and sighs happily, then blinks. "Oh, sure! Uh.. so I can have some clothes, maybe?"
Tzolkin grins, nodding. "Sure. As long as you promise to not get into any more trouble." he replies, with a slight firmness in his voice. The mouse vanishes into a closet for a moment, returning moments later pushing a mobile shelf unit stocked with mouse's clothes of various sorts. He then looks Zen over, carefully, holding his fingers together in a rough rectanglular shape. "Hmm.."
Zen nods his head, then clances at the clothes. His whiskers perk up a little as he moves nearing them and Tzolkin. "Oooh.... I see! I'll try my best to keep out of trouble then.. heh." He looks and hums softly, trying to figure out what he'd want.
Tzolkin nods, and hmms, continuing to look Zen over, rubbing his chin thoughtfully. "Tunic? .. No, too formal. Cloak is always a good functional garment.." he mutters quietly to himself, thinking out loud. "Did you see any of the rodents here wearing something that you liked?" he asks.
Zen shakes his head a little, giving a slight shrug. "Oh, I haven't. Uh... what kinds of clothes are there? I mean.. hehe, I don't know what a cloack or a tunic is." He smiles, pondering something simular to a dress probably.
Tzolkin nods, and hmms. He points to some of the clothes he is wearing. First, to the cloak. "This thing around my shoulders is a cloak. It's useful in keeping warm." Then he points to the half-apron around his waist. "This is called a half-apron. It's primarily used by the rats as something they wear over their regular clothes, but I wear it by itself most of the time because clothes make my fur itchy when I'm working." he explains.
Zen chuckle and nods his head a little, then hrmms.. "What else is there? I mean... I guess not too many things but.. I don't know.. I've... always been a bit nervous of clothes I think.." He looks over the clothes and ponders.
Tzolkin nods as well, moving over to the shelves and holding up a tunic. "This is a tunic. It's what most of the males and even some of the females in the colony wear as a standard." he explains. "It can also be fairly itchy." He puts it back and picks up a hooded shirt. "My stepdad used to wear one of these. It's called a shirt. Very loose-fitting and comfy, for the most part."
Zen glances at the hooded shirt, his head tilting. "Oh... well... if it's comfterble...." He moves forwards a bit more to examine it, sniffling at it a bit..
Tzolkin nods thoughtfully. "What is your favorite color?" he asks, letting Zen sniff the shirt in his hand while he looks at the shelves to see what colors he has, currently.
Zen smiles and chuckles, "I like blue! Hehe, blue seems to be a hard color for me to find. I find it in the water, but it never stays blue when you take it in your paws. The sky's blue but when I reach for it, it's always so far away or blocked by a cloud. Hehe, when I went to take a feather from a bluejay, I got pecked at." He chuckles and grins a little, watching Tzolkin.
Tzolkin grins a bit, nodding to Zen. "Blue is a hard color for us to get, too. We have to squeeze the color for it out of blue flower petals in springtime." he explains, putting the brown shirt he had held out back on the shelf, and producing a subdued blue one, holding it out for Zen. "Want to try it on?" he asks.
Zen nods his head a little, then tilts his head, "Flowers? Hrmm.. I never would have thought of that!" He then looks at the shirt, tilting his head. "Oh well... ok." He holds his paws out and takes it, staring at it for a bit. "Uh... just.. goes uh..."
Tzolkin blinks, and smiles a bit. "Oh, I forgot. .. Just take the widest opening, and pull it over your head. Your head should come out the second largest opening, and your arms go in the other two." he explains.
Zen blushes and nods his head. "Oh, I see. Thank you!" He struggles a minute, slipping the shirt over his head as he fights to get his head through the head hole and his arms through the arm holes. Finaly, he succeeds!
Tzolkin chuckles into a paw, watching the other mouse wrestle into the shirt. When he succeeds though, the tailormouse grins. "Excellent. How do you like it?" he asks, motioning to the mirror should Zen want to take a look. He checks the time again. Noon, and lunch time. He disregards that for now though. He'll just come back from lunch later than normal.
Zen looks in the mirror and blinks. "Wow... .it... it's perfect! Hehe, it.. it will take me some time to get used to the feel but... that's perfect! It looks nice! Ohhoh... Terri won't even know who I am!"
Tzolkin grins, nodding. "You also might notice that the rats won't look at you so oddly, now. I'm glad it works for you." he replies, getting his things ready for lunch. "If that's all you'll be needing, I'm going down to the dining hall for lunch." he notes, grabbing a brush from his apron pocket and brushing his fur into a better semblance of order.
Zen nods his head a little, then glances at the brush as his own crazy fur. Should he dare ask? Hehe, nope! Zen's proud to have long and thick fur that splays out in every direction. Regardless, he still had to ask yet another question. "Uh... where's lunch?"
Tzolkin rubs his chin, seeming lost in thought for a moment while he glances at the shelves of clothes. "Ah.. lunch is in the dining hall." he repeats, pushing the shelf unit back into the closet. When he returns, he grabs a garment from a cabinet under his task board, and goes into a dressing room. "Might as well tidy up a bit." he says, voice muffled from behind the closed door.
Zen's head tilts. He starts to follow Tzolkin, but then he stops. In his mind, he thinks.. ~Oh, wait... maybe I should wait here. Uh.... he'll call me if he needs me.. but... is that where the food is? Oh, of course not. You don't tidy up food... uh... right?~ He blinks and then smiles. HAH! He found a solution. "OK! I'll... be right here if you need me!!"
Tzolkin is quiet for a few moments, and the sound of rustling fabric can be heard. Finally, he emerges wearing a blue-grey sleeveless tunic of a very different design than what might normally be seen in the colony. It seems a bit more formal and shaping, and has the NMC insignia on one of the front panels. In addition, he's also wearing what looks to be... sandals? "I don't usually wear this, but I have to go to a meeting later. Almost forgot, heh." he says to Zen, grabbing a beret from his workbench before heading for the door. "But lunch is first. You hungry, Zen?"
Zen's head tilts at Tzolkin, confused a bit. "Oh, uh...wow... what's all that? Those.... those things aren your hind-paws and.. and.... the thing you almost forgot and..." He blushes, being inteupted by his stomach. "OF COURSE I'M HUNGY!" He chuckels and grins a little.
Tzolkin's ear splay a bit. "This is my formal uniform from back at the other colony." he replies. "I'm supposed to be talking with one of their couriers later." he says, then chuckles as Zen's stomach interrupts them both. "I'd guess we should head to the dining hall, then." He pulls the door open, holding it for Zen.
Zen nods his head and follows after Tzolkin, though, he felt a bit off, kind of bad. When ever his ears splayed out, it usualy meant he felt a bit bad. Kind of thinking in his head, he had to remeber that things were a bit diffrent and he had to learn quickly. Don't upset someone over your own ignorance!
Tzolkin steps out into the hallway behind Zen, closing the door behind him. He looks around at the various assortment of rodents bustling about in the main area of the workshops, then makes his way towards the dining hall, staying close to the hall and trying not to bump anyone.
LVC: Dining Hall
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
The dining hall is a massive room, quite large enough to hold the entire community -- even if everyone was a bit crowded. However, the buffet style of serving meals around here allows the rats and mice to dine at their leisure. Tables, large and small, are scattered around the large, open floor of the hall. A bank of windows along the outer, eastern wall allows daylight to stream into the room, and large oil lamps hang suspended from the ceiling for night-time meals.
Large doorways along the inner, western wall lead [Out] into the
corridor.
Another, smaller doorway leads into the [Kitchen]s.
A long pass-through window functions as the serving (line).

Zen takes a big breath and sighs happily. The smells hitting his nose quickly. "ohh... so... so nice.... hehe, so... oh no!!!" He starts to look around nervously, "I-I.. I can't be here, can I?!?"
Line
A pass-through window allows you to look directly into the kitchens beyond -- and allows the heavenly smells being cooked up there to tickle your nose. At mealtimes, the counter that lines the pass-through is covered with plates and bowls of the daily cooking. At one end of the counter is a stack of plates, mugs, and glasses, as well as a pile of utensils.
Tzolkin enters the Dining Hall alongside Zen. He blinks, shrugging. "I did it when I was younger, with my stepdad." he says, picking up a mouse-sized tray. "Just pick one of these up and stand in line. When you get to the front, choose what you'd like and put it on your tray." He sniffs the air and smiles, "I don't know what's on the menu today, but it smells heavenly."
Zen nods his head a bit nervously, looking around. "OH no... I... I hope he's not here... I... I'd hate to have to... uh.... live up to my speach or word or something... I can't talk to him!! He's a rat and... rat's are bigger than I and I am not foolish enough to steal from one and then return to say I stole it and laugh at him!" He grabs a trey with two gittery paws.. then follows Tzolkin closely.
Tzolkin shrugs. "If he is, I'm sure you'll be fine. Saying you're sorry for doing something usually counts for something, here." he tries to assure. The line moves fast, and soon Tzol and Zen are at the front of the line. After a moment's thought, the tailormouse selects a mouse-sized plate of roasted mushrooms, and a small piece of bread. He then puts a small mug of cider on his tray, lingering only to help Zen figure things out should it be needed. Being towards the end of the standard lunchtime, the dining hall is fairly occupied with rats, most sitting and chatting with one another while they dine.
Zen takes what Tzolkin takes, unsure of what to do. He looks at all the rats once he has his trey. Oh my, so many of them!!! Why did he come here?!? If one of them is a guard... that... caught him sneeking past.. or the one he stole from... oh dear!!! He trembles, freezeing up..
Tzolkin notices Zen freezing up, placing a paw on the other mouse's shoulder. "This way. Just be casual. You're among friends." he says quietly, nudging Zen towards a row of mouse-sized tables.
Zen moves a bit quickly, but smoothly to the tables, looking around. "Th... there's so many rats.. and... oh no.... One's going to know whom I am... one HAS to know.. oh dear... oh dear.." He sits down at the table, tremebling as he sets his trey down.
Tzolkin sets his tray down at the table and looks around to see if any mice he knows are around. He looks back to Zen. "You seem really stressed out about this." he notices. "But like I said, act casual. Maybe it'd help to get something in your stomach?" he suggests. That is why they came to the Dining Hall, after all.
Zen sighs and nods his head, looking a bit pale. "Ughn.. .o... ok... that's a good idea... heh.." He starts to nibble on a mushroom, his eyes shifting left and right. "He's.. not here, I hope... Oh, now... now I wish I could appologize before I actualy HAVE to appologize so he doesn't rip my face off for stealing from him..."
Master of timing that he is, Kieran paid Tzolkin's little tailor shop a visit when the mouse had gone to lunch. Feeling impatient for reasons he didn't quite understand, as well as hungry, he opted to head for the dining hall as well, hoping to both fill his belly and speak to the tailormouse. Kieran entered the hall and scanned the tables for some sign of the mouse--unfortunately, he didn't know the tailor by sight. However, he thought he spied someone familiar at the mouse tables... After going through the line, the black-furred rat slowly made his towards the seated mice, picking up a hint of what he guessed was Tzolkin's scent over all the food (it was similar to what he smelled near at the door to the tailor shop). That familiar looking mouse smelled kind of familiar too... "Um...exc-c-cuse m-m-m-me..." stammers Kieran, stammering a bit more than usual, "b-b-but I'm l-l-l-looking f-f-for the t-t-t-tailorm-m-m-mouse, T-Tzolkin...is one of y-y-you h-h-h-him?"
Tzolkin just nods, not sure what else he can do to help. He sips a bit of cider, then nibbles on one of his mushrooms, eyeing the massive oil lamps above them, thoughfully. His musings about the ceiling lamps is abruptly ended when the rat approaches. The mouse blinks several times, looking up at Kieran. "That would be me." he says, waving a paw gently. "Is something the matter?" The rat seems vaguely familiar to him, but he isn't quite sure from where.
Terri smiles as she comes over to zen she smiles sneaking behind him as she is surprised to see him with a shirt on she never seen zen in clothing so she nearly did not reconize him. but she manages to sneak up behind him and says "what are you doing here zen?"
Zen nearly jumps out of his seat when Terri sneeks up behind him! "Oh... oh... Terri! Hello!!!" He smiles and gives her a warm hug, then blushes. "Uh... I came to... appologize to him... for stealling crops..." He blushes and smiles. "I... I'm rather nervous..." He glances at Kieran, head tilting a bit as he smiles a little.
It's the voice that does it for Kieran, finally allowing him to put two and two together. He offers the fuzzy little mouse he met last winter a nervous grin. "H-h-h-hello ag-g-gain," he stammers, pleasantly surprised to see him again, and in the colony no less. Turning to Tzolkin, he shakes his head. "J-j-just th-th-the w-w-way I always t-t-talk..." Kieran stutters, ears turning a little red. "M-m-mind if I j-j-join y-you?" The female mouse is a stranger to him and out of nervousness, he avoids eye contact, biting nervously at his lip.
Tzolkin's ears perk, finally realizing that he has indeed met this rat before. "Ah." he replies, offering a whiskery smile. "Sure. I don't mind." he says. "Long time no see, I suppose." Noticing Terri sneak up behind Zen, he offers a small wave to her as well. "And you must be the Mrs. I've been hearing so much about." he chirps with a smile, taking a sip of his cider.
Terri smiles and says "good zen I am glad you came to apologize for stealing food you should never take anything with out asking its not nice" she smiles kissinghim on the cheek as she sits next to him saying to tzolkin "oh you have well I am glad to hear that I hope zen has not caused you any trouble?" she smiles at kieran and says "hello my name is terri what is your name? why do you not look at me?" she keeps a friendly tone.
Zen blushes a little at Terri and smiles. "Uh... yea.. hehe... He said it was alright and... uh that it was all ok... hehe.. yea.." He lies of course. He then offers another friendly smile at Kieran. Oh yes, that was a good day to remeber. That's when he saw the blue sparkly... hehe, what a gum wrapper it was!
Kieran sets his tray down on the table once Tzolkin gives him the okay to join the mice, then goes to fetch himself a chair. He'll look a bit ridiculous, sitting at a mouse-sized table in a rat-sized chair, but it's that or break a mouse-sized chair, or try and sit on the floor and eat. He's going to look foolish any way you slice it, so he opts to look foolish while being comfortable at the same time. "H-h-hello, T-T-T-Terri..." he stammers in return. "I g-g-get n-n-nerv-v-vous ar-r-round r-r-rodents I d-d-don't kn-kn-know..." the rat explains, voice trailing off. He focuses on his food for the moment, taking a big bite of mushroom.
Tzolkin smiles to Terri, "Oh, not at all. He seems a bit fidgety around rats, but I remember being like that when I was younger." he says, watching the two other mice for a moment, before taking another bite of his mushrooms. ~Gotta eat them before they get cold..~ he thinks as he swallows. "Any particular reason you were looking for me?" he asks Kieran.
Terri smiles at zen and says "good I am happy you are trying to stay out of trouble" she gives him a lick remembering he seems to like those better she smiles and asks "oh you dont hafta be nervous around me I am friendly to anyone" she smiles at zen and then says "you just need some time to adjust being around the rats they are really nice zen"
Zen smiles and blushes a little red at the lick, nuzzling into Terri and gleefully returning the lick. "Hehe, ok... if you say so. I just... I don't know... I guess I'm feeling he'd jump out and attack me once I told him. Oh well..." He nibbles a bit on another mushroom then, his appitite hitting him.
Kieran nods a bit vaguely at Terri's comment, keeping his attention on his food until Tzolkin addresses him. "W-w-well..." he stammers, looking up and trying to meet the mouse's eyes. "I w-w-was h-hoping y-you c-c-could h-help m-me out w-w-with a n-n-new g-g-glove..." The rat places his gloved left paw on the table to show what he means--it's black leather and definitely showing its age. "Th-this is f-f-fine f-for m-most th-things...b-b-but...w-w-well...I'd l-l-like s-s-something w-w-with a l-l-little...um...c-c-c-c-c-class..."
Tzolkin nods in response to Kieran, looking at the glove carefully. "Ah. I think we might be able to figure something out." he replies with a smile, "Did you have anything specific in mind?" The mouse takes another bite of mushroom, and a sip of cider, curling and uncurling his tail from the chair leg, idly.
Terri smiles and says "well I dont think the gardeners will be too angry if your honest about what youve done but its better not to take there vegetables with out asking because it frustrates them" she smiles and says "I am happy you are going to apologize zen it means alot to me"
Zen smiles at Terri, nodding a bit. "Ok.. I'll.. never do it again... hehe, never again.." He smiles and nods, then sighs a bit. Falling silent.
Kieran leaves the gloved paw on the table as Tzolkin looks it over, and surveys it himself, wondering what exactly he means when Tzolkin asks for more information. "W-w-well...s-something d-d-dressy...f-f-for h-h-holidays and s-s-stuff..." he stutters. It's the closest he can come to lying outright; the new glove definitely will be for special occasions--they're just going to be a bit more special than that. Or, at least, that's what the scarred rat hopes.
Tzolkin nods, seeming to understand. He swallows a mouthful of mushroom, looking up to the rat. "Ah. So, something formal. Maybe like an opera glove?" he suggests, or really asks. The tailormouse sips his cider while he waits for Kieran's answer.
Terri smiles and says "thank you zen she then also goes silent since there really is not much else she can say not wanting to interupt kieran and tzolkins conversation
Kieran bites his lip a little at Tzolkin's suggestion. "W-w-well...m-maybe?" he stammers uncertainly. "C-c-could I...m-m-make an app-p-pointm-m-ment or s-s-something and s-s-stop b-b-by th-then, s-so you c-c-can s-s-show m-m-me w-w-what you mean?" Only now does he realize that coming to talk to the tailor at lunch wasn't terribly intelligent--the whole 'not knowing anything about clothes' business makes having a useful conversation difficult...
Tzolkin smiles whiskerly, nodding to Kieran. "Sure thing. What times are you free? I've got a meeting at two but I should be back in the shop by three or so." he says, pulling a small pad of paper and a pencil from his tunic.
Kieran returns a nervous half-smile as Tzolkin smiles at him. "W-w-well...uh...wh-whenever w-w-works f-f-for y-you, r-r-really..." he stammers, looking down at his plate again as his ears flush. The scarred rat still hasn't found a place for himself as a civilian, so he doesn't as yet have any official tasks to perform. It embarasses him.
Tzolkin smiles a bit, curling his tail around the chair. "Shall we say a half past 3, then?" he asks, taking another sip of cider. He notices the rat's embarassment, but doesn't want to bring any attention to it.
Jenevieve smooches Mandy, from afar!
Kieran nods, relieved that Tzolkin's ignoring the flush in his ears. "Th-that s-s-sound f-f-fine. Th-th-thank you," he stutters, almost smiling again at the mouse.
Tzolkin jots the time down on the notepad quickly, his chicken-scratch handwriting barely legible to anyone but him. "All set then. And no problem." he says, the warm smile only barely fading from his muzzle. He scoops up the last bite of mushroom on his plate with a small piece of bread, nibbling on it carefully while he studies the oil lamps on the ceiling, once more.
Kieran manages a bit of a smile as Tzolkin jots down the time and assures him it's no trouble. Not having much else to say, the rat returns his attention to his food as well.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Sleepers: Timothy Darius Regellan
