After an extended absence, Draxtherion Hawkwind, one of the original NIMH rats, has found his way to Thorn Valley. He up and vanished somewhat unexpectedly from the Rosebush Colony shortly before where the book/film opens. Discussing the idea with Tim, it would better integrate the book and film if Drax were the one who left (in the book), being mistaken by some for Jenner due to his physical similarities.

Those who remember Drax from 'the good old days' would know him as one of the most dedicated rats of the colony. Not exceedingly skilled as some, he readily performed a lot of physical labor wherever it was needed. Once matters fell to the more technically-minded, Drax scrounged far and wide for resources useful for the colony. I keep visualizing Drax as one of the rats stealing the electric cord in the film.

Draxtherion, Jenner, and Sullivan were a bit of a minor triumvirate, and most were aware of their association. Drax was the 'middle ground' of the group; harder than Sullivan, though he didn't quite share Jenner's cruelty or narrow-mindedness. Most who recall him would regard him as hardworking, dedicated, and somewhat noble.

Drax has returned to the colony, which is now located in Thorn Valley. With him are his four children. Kevin and Kalvin are twin sons who very much resemble their father. Candace, his daughter, is the spitting image of her mother, Julia (a feral whom most would not know about). There is also Dreggus, a hulking beast of a sewer rat Drax adopted during his self-imposed exile. While exceedingly well-mannered (almost genteel), there's something about each of them that tends to make others' neckfur stand on end when they're around.
