Justin's Predicament

Tim asked me to come up with a summary of what’s happened to Justin from the point of view of everyone not directly involved in the schemes of a certain councilrat, so here goes…

Everything started the day of Zohar and Gabrielle’s wedding. A few of the guests saw Raganzi and Justin head back into the tunnel leading off the terrace and down into the colony after Raganzi offered a toast to the newlyweds. They got their next glimpse of Raganzi when he collapsed in shock at the door of said tunnel, bleeding heavily from a severe chest wound.
Now, as for where they went after leaving the terrace, it’s possible that one or two other colonists saw them heading for Justin’s office. If they saw the pair together on the first level, then it’d have been obvious to them that Justin was not feeling 100%, but that he wasn’t deathly ill, either. (For all they know, it could just be the opening stages of a migraine, for example.) Once the two got to Justin’s office, the door closed. Unbenknownst to them, however, another councilrat named Adrian (something of a political ally of Justin’s) has spotted and followed them, wondering what is going on.

Adrian enters the office, and at this point any passersby in the first level corridor would have heard the start of a heated argument. Shortly thereafter, all hell would have broken loose and they would have heard the start of a two-on-one brawl (and perhaps even seen Justin attacking the councilors like a berserker.) By the time the Guard shows up, there’s a trail of blood leading from the closed door of Justin’s office towards the northern ramp from Raganzi. Anyone who sticks around to see if they can be of help to the Guardsrats finds Justin on the floor, drenched in blood, and staring at Adrian’s corpse—which has Justin’s sword buried to the hilt in his chest.

From the office, Justin was naturally carted to the Guardhouse and then, after a brief interrogation by Leon, locked away to await the results of the ensuing investigation and his eventual trial. Convinced of his own guilt, Justin has no time or patience with anyone who tries to tell him he didn’t do this thing and is wondering why they haven’t just banished him and gotten it over with. He’s been visited regularly by Isabella (like that’s a surprise ;) ) and once each by Elizabeth Brisby and Zohar.

Hope this helps.

So, when's the trial?

Kieran

Good question. I wish I knew myself. *n.n We're trying to engineer a time where all the principal players can be on-line to get the ball rolling, and as you might guess, things aren't going terribly well. *n.n
