An Unsatisfactory Introduction to Hugo
Hokay, so, here's the deal...
I just whipped up an alt for myself who's a NIMH mouse and a first-gen member of the NMC Council. I had the crazy idea that I might actually make him part of someone's family.
I'm still in the process of fleshing him out more fully, but here's what I've got for him so far.
1. If it'll work out, Hugo and his as-yet-unknown mate (I'd rather not be both characters, just to make life interesting) have a large family. Originally, I thought they'd have six kids (three of each), but having that many kids would mean the family quickly becomes inter-related with every other family in the colony. Turning the NMC into the rodent equivalent of Arkansas is *not* kosher. n.n
2. Not the type to fear speaking his mind and possessed of a good (if somewhat irreverent) sense of humor, Hugo feels his fellow councilmice take themselves too seriously too often. This doesn't mean Hugo is not the type to be serious, however. Just don't be surprised if he tries cracking a joke to ease tension somewhat.
3. As RPd the other night in the RP where Sarah and Christopher speak to the council about the current epidemic in the NMC, Hugo and Patricia loathe one another. She thinks he's too cowardly to defend the colony, and he thinks that she's a genocidal madmouse who'll destroy them all by starting a war with the rats that the NMC can't possibly win. (The city sewer rats only outnumber them by what, 100,000 to 1?) As such, I would imagine a fair amount of fireworks are common between the two in and out of council sessions. It goes without saying that the two are bitter political enemies. Since neither has attempted to assassinate the other yet, they're not quite to the level of Jenner and Nicodemus...but they're probably not too far from that point, either.
4. Hugo is anal about punctuality--he makes Germans look lax about keeping on schedule, he's so bad. As such, he's always got a fancy pocketwatch on a chain in a vest pocket, plus a wristwatch as back-up. You can bet the family home in the colony has a clock in every room, as well. Want a sure-fire way to irritate the bejesus out of Hugo? Show up to an apointment or meeting with him just barely on time. Show up late if you want to tick him off. *n.n
Don't know what he looks like yet, or his relative age as compared to the rest of the NMC First Gens, but that'll come in time. I'll be working on that as inspiration allows.
I just wanted to give him as much of an introduction as I can at this point and also put out that I'm looking for a family in need of a patriarch. n.n If anybody thinks Hugo would fit in somewhere--as a brother, uncle, husband, father, etc.--please let me know. :)

Nice desc =D
I do remember that RP (which is still ongoing atm), Hiro, Tim and me were looking for ppl to spoof some of the Elders for a Council meeting rp, you and Jacob showed up and roled William and Hugo for the first time like if you were playing them for months. =)
Btw thank you both for helping us on that RP, things are more interesting now than ever and I'm looking forward to continue it. Better now that Patricia might know now how to piss off Hugo ;)

Thanks, Tenken. :)
I can't speak for Jacob, but I'm certainly pleased that Hugo came off well character-wise. :) I was kind of nervous about trying to RP as a character that I had just thought up ten minutes ago...and who's supposed to be a councilmouse, no less. O.o I'm very, very glad I managed to succeed. :)
And you're quite welcome for the help with the council RP. I've been meaning to get an alt there for some time now, so I could begin keeping tabs on what's going on there and learn about the NMC. Your call for help provided me with an excellent opportunity to both create an alt and dive right into a cool and important RP. :)
I, too, look forward to continuing the fireworks between Hugo and Patricia. ;)

Relatives, you say?
Relatives it is, then! :D Let me introduce you to Roland, a spunky, hyperactive young mouse whose free-spirited approach to living is a bane of many a regimental adult.
Not that he likes breaking the rules; he's not that sort of rodent. Instead, he prefers thumbing the unwritten rules of life, the social conventions and average expectations of society at large. He's rather impulsive as a result, and tend to embarrass people around him when he shouldn't, but his unbound energy often turns up some good points about both the silliness of being 'uptight' and what the purpose of all that etiquette is supposed to be. Manners and politeness are ways we respect each other and not a way of life in itself, and this is really what he has in mind, ultimately.
That's just a basic character description I've written in the last five minutes (actually, I made him for a custom RP I'm doing with someone, but his is the first time I've formulated his personality), so it's not exactly watertight, but it should do ;)
As to how this relates to Hugo...I'm thinking that he'd make a good son for him. Like his father, he's very frank and open about his views and stubborn about maintaining them. Unlike his father, he spurns punctuality and prefers to do things at his own pace, which probably drives poor Dad up the wall :P
Roland might just play a role in the council debate, however, seeing as how he dislikes it when people - particularly important people - huddle in a room and talk about something he doesn't know about ;)
Anyway, I'm hoping to get this character on soon, but I have school coming up and may not be able to. Still, I'm really hoping to work on this idea in the short term. And, who knows, maybe I'll come up with some other relatives for you, maybe even Hugo's wife...;)
Catch you later!

Yes, Relatives I Say. :P
I can imagine more than a few personality conflicts between Hugo and Roland...like there are in most any family IRL. :)
Natasha also mentioned needing an IC dad; we'll see what she decides to do for her character. n.n
So, anyone else have an NMC character in need of a parental unit? ;)
