The Plane
It is likely that Jacob and I will be starting the plane RP sometime within the next month. If anyone has any objections, suggestions, or anything of the sort concerning this RP, please speak up ASAP. We will accept anything anyone has to say or help they have to give. Neither of us have much experience in the way of this kind of stuff and are mostly winging it metaphorically speaking. Everything said here will be taken into consideration.
Sounds intriguing
But could you go into more detail about it? I've heard the idea spoken of, but not the specifics. I'm all for any new TPs that come along, so fire away!

Plane RP
Well, it was a suggestion I made a couple months ago, and Jacob has also volunteered to help in this RP. While visiting the NMC, we go dumpster diving near a hobby shop. In the dumpster, we find the wreckage of an R/C plane. Jacob and I bring it back to the NMC and get permission to repair it and get it airworthy. Plans for what to do with it mostly involve a faster form of transportation between the Thorn Valley Colony and the NMC.
Jacob and I are still trying to work out some details, like where to fuel it and how to keep humans from noticing a plane piloted by a mouse and a rat. We are also in a more personal group of RPs right now (between me and one of his alts, mind you). Once we are done with that, we'll try to get to work on the plane RP, emphasis on the word 'try'.
Interesting idea, at the least.
In all honesty, i really don't have much room to object to a converted r/c plane on muck, i mean, come on, i'm the one who stated the whole buggy thing. I do, however, have some things you might wanna consider:
1st: i think you've probably been told this by everyone, but it is a concern. How are you going to keep Humans from seeing this rat and mouse flown plane? I mean, the buggy was relatively easy (driven only at night, in deserted areas, and it's on the ground, so it's less likely to be noticed.) You could fly only at night, but that presents problems, though not much (don't wanna get lost, though that could make things interesting) You need a landing strip (Thorn Valley isn't so much of an issue as NMC is, cuz nmc is right in the middle of the city, or nearly so.)
2nd: Okay, call me 'Mr. Killjoy', but the range on most R/C planes isn't all that great, a few miles at best. and that's pushing it. I know the larger R/C planes (1/10 scale B-26's and DC-9's) have plenty of room and power for passengers, but that's somewhat large to land in the city without being noticed. which brings up another good point: where they gonna get fuel? or will this be like electric or solar powered (like NASA's stuff)? which may or may not work. efficiency wise, gas powered is still the best power to weight ratio.
My suggestion, and you can take it for what it's worth, is that the plane is used for only part of the journey, say, get over the wilderness areas and rough parts of the journey. Maybe set up a fueling station half way or something. Fuel may be a matter of manufacture (that stuff's mostly Alcohol anyway, the rest could be 'selectively borrowed' or raided. or something else...:) ) I had thrown up the idea of using the buggy for the in city traveling, run through storm drains and such, but that's your guys' call.
Anyhow, there's my two cents (though they're probably Canadian and not worth much). I would like to be there for the maiden voyage of the Thorn Valley Airlines, when it happens.
Thank you
Thank you for you're feedback, Tod. I have been thinking about things like that for a while (but haven't talked about it much with Jacob, yet).
Fuel: I have talked with Jacob a bit on this. Our plan is to pretty much make the thing a flying fuel tank. I've been to model air shows, most planes carry small amounts of fuel in an external tank. We had planned on packing as much fuel space on the inside of the fuselage as possible. That should give us enough range to make it to Thorn Valley. And it shouldn't be too hard for the gardeners to make some crops for us to distill alcohol for the return trip.
For taking off at the NMC: We're still working on that.
Flying in the city: Perhaps a paint job that would help camouflage it is what I have in mind right now. But Jacob and I may do some more planning on that.
Taking off from Thorn Valley: Use the field, easy. For night flights (which we don't plan on anyway), use a bunch of lanterns to make a visible landing strip.
We are working on the details bit by bit right now. As everyone knows, We're in the middle of something else right now (Cedric dating Kimberly). Once that is pretty much out of the way, we'll go full-bore into thinking this out.
Once again, thanks for the feedback and the concerns. Neither Jacob nor I have done anything quite this big before (and some are even thinking it might wind up a TP), so we're not 100% sure of what we're supposed to do.
Update
Well, I don't think we'll have to worry about the details anymore. I think I just killed the idea. I pissed someone off on the muck. Unfortunately, he's a wiz and was one of those who liked the idea.
There is a chance it might still happen, but I have serious doubts now.
I'll take full blame for this, and anyone who still likes the idea can send me hate e-mail. I'll read it.
:(
What on earth made you think
What on earth made you think I'd kill the idea? Cedric, just 'cause I didn't like how you said something to me doesn't mean that I want to put a kibosh on all of your ideas. Just be more careful to think about how others will react in the future.
In any case, the only reason this RP won't go ahead is if you decide not to do it. I won't stand in the way.
While I can't speak for the rest of the WizStaff...
I can say that I stand with Timothy on this. The only thing that'll kill this RP is your decision to kill it, Cedric. You've got our support for that idea.

I thought
Sorry, yesterday was torture for me. I was by no means in any good mood. But ticking off a supporter of a new idea seemed like grounds that it would die. I was really annoyed at the time (how I managed to not kill my siblings I'll never know).
I was a jerk. I just figured that ticking someone off would probably make me lose their support. It's not that I don't want to do the idea. I would love to see it happen. But after last night I would have figured I lost Timothy's support of it.
Just for the record, making people mad is one thing I can do, unfortunately. :(
The Plane
I can't wait to get this RP started. Technically we've started this thing but we're waiting for the green light from the head wiz before we continue. Any more suggestions from interested persons, please don't hesitate to state them.
Re: The Plane
Mmm. It might be nice if Jacob ran into Zo. ;) Those journals might be something to aid with the plane if it is green lit.
Not very likely
As I've made probably too well known lately, I do plan on leaving the muck at the end of the year, provided I don't get more interested in it between now and then (fat chance, but a possibility nonetheless). Even though we have the green light from the wizzes at the moment, it's highly unlikely it will get started before then. Too many variables. If another window opens that Cedric and Jacob have a reason to go to the NMC, and if nothing else comes up that makes Jacob change everything (I won't even go there), then it may happen. Just too many "if's" there for it to be plausible. I will keep an eye open for other windows, but know that this won't affect my plans to leave unless it is started and my characters are in the middle of RPs by that time. I will stay long enough to finish most if not all RPs at that time should I decide to leave, but after that I'm leaving. That is unless by some freak chance the planets line up perfectly and something happens to make me change my mind, of course.
Re: The Plane
I'm sure we can think of something Cedric, I'd still like to go through with this RP. maybe we could go back to the NMC to visit Jacobs family. and introduce Cedric to them.
Re: The Plane
I guess that would give us a reason to go there. But that still leaves us with a big problem. There's still the Oren thing, and even if it eventually does get finished you may wind up getting yourself in another jam before we start.
I haven't given up on that plan, either. It's mostly doing time in the mothball museum of my mind right now, ready to start whenever you're ready.
Re: The Plane
I actually don't think we need to wait for the Oren RP to finish, we could start it taking place in a future time line sort of deal. It can even take place after Kim and Cedric's Wedding and honeymoon.
Re: The Plane
Really? And you're sure no one will try and sabotage it?
Re: The Plane
I wouldn't think so, I cant think of any reason why someone should...
Re: The Plane
Me neither. Only one player there really knows me, and they aren't the type to do that. But you never know on the internet.
P.S. if I'm dreaming that this is really going to happen, please don't wake me up.
Re: The Plane
This post is mostly so I can look at it later and hopefully verify that I am not currently hallucinating and/or completely losing it.
The RPing has started (again).
I will likely never be able to enjoy MUCKs to the extent everyone else does. But my near future appears to hold an improvement from what I've experienced thus far.
Re: The Plane
transport aircraft are fine but something else has me worried these aircraft wont be used in combat will they? i mean i am not against them being used for transports but combat i dont know.
Re: The Plane
Well, if we manage to get it off the ground, I don't plan on weaponizing it (though it would be feasible). I think the only way the plane would be used as a combat device would be if the Council or NMC ordered it into battle service ICly.
Re: The Plane
I agree with Cedric, it would stricktly be used for transport (and cargo shipping If needed). Like Cedric said the only reason to weaponize it is if the council ordered it to be done.
