This is a story idea that I've been playing off and on pretty much since I began on Nimh Muck. I'll start telling the story in parts and by beginning with the past so folks can get an understanding of the events that lead up to how things are now.

The Past:

The events of the past take place not long before the death of Nicodemus and begins with Enkidu and Persephone, two members of the Thorn Valley Council. Both of them where very much opposed to Jenner and those that would support him, they where also mates. Being supporters of Nicodemus and 'The Plan', Enkidu and Persephone's opposition of Jenner had finally caused Jenner to take steps to deal with them outside of the council in less civilized ways. Eventually, assassins where chosen, two of them, one each for Persephone and Enkidu and not but a few weeks before the death of Nicodemus they made their move.

Persephone was called to the council after meeting hours to meet with another. This was of course a setup as the Rosebush Council chamber was dark and deserted when she arrived. Enkidu was being watched and when he was alone deep within the workshops his assassin made his move......

Enkidu is a large rat, quite large and born of some unique abnormalities. One being that his arms and legs where somewhat longer than usual. The other, a defect that isn't readily visable but much more serious. As skilled as the assassin was he had no idea what he was dealing with. Enkidu being a first generation rat having the experience that rats of the wild do was able to best his attacker, though it cost him his tail. Persephone being petite even for a female had little chance, and was not as fortunate as her mate. She died alone in the darkness of the vacant council chamber.

Okay now, lets talk a bit about the character of Enkidu and Persephone. Enkidu was dispite all his size and health issues was very kind and feeling. He had put all his heart and soul into the building of the colony and it's society. The only thing that he held in greater regard than the colony was Persephone..... Her death, and the subsequent absence of justice for the crime destroyed him. The night Nicodemus died Enkidu left the colony never to be seen again.

Persephone was the definition of tranquility. Serene and kind, she was thought of as the one that never stopped smiling. Persephone never lost her temper, she never cried, and above all she never played the dirty games that so many others had fallen to. Always about her she seemed to have a soothing air of serenity and she never refused her kindness to anyone.

Together they where stalwart and unyealding towers of opposition to Jenner and his quest for power over the colony. Tragically this would come to an end.....but not really, Enkidu had survived, and they had children.

The Present:

Okay, this is where things get a little confusing, because of the time scale that I use to gadge the time when all these events took place. Note I did not say how old Enkidu and Persephone where, but lets say they where adults. I did not say how old thier children where, but lets say that they where hardly more than adolescents. The children, Hecate and Helios are brother and sister respectively and Hecate is four years older than her brother. Anyway, the key thing to remember is that Enkidu dissappeared the night that Nicodemus died and Mrs. Brisby used the stone. Persephone died a few weeks earlier.

Now that the rats have since left the colony and have moved to Thorn Valley, Hecate and Helios are all grown up. The way I have them on the muck is that Hecate is roughly 30 years old human equivelant, and Helios is roughly 26.

Okay okay, the present. For the longest time no one has heard or seen of Enkidu. As a matter of fact, the big book the colony keeps in the library that documents all of the colonists lists Enkidu as 'missing.' The years pass and nothing, until recently. Within the last year there have been strange and unknown encounters with something in the woods. It's not some random wild creature or a ferral rat but the encounters often prove violent as some of the guards will tell you, particularly Eugene. There's something disturbing about the viciousness and cruelty of the encounters, as if what ever it is possesses an intellegent problem solving mind the sort of wich only a Nimh rat or mouse would hold. And this is no mouse.

What I've roleplayed so far:

So far I've been able to rp on this line, there've been some encounters with this creature and some of the colonists. Mainly Hecate, Balak, Eugene, Steven, Simon, Rapta, Santiago, and some others. Mainly these have been encounters in the forest that have occured some ways from the colony, however the enounters have been getting closer. Also Hecate has shared some things with Steven and Eugene that would allow them to know more than most others would. She has done this because it is she that knows the truth where as her brother is completely ignorant of the truth. Having chosen to bare the pain of the past alone, Hecate tries very hard to keep the truth from her brother. Now I haven't included every little nitpicky detail in this post as it would probably just turn the rp idea into a little fanfic and give away too much. Those details have to be found out while actually roleplaying along this storyline. However, there are some things that I've left out, and even some side rp's that have taken place, mainly with Hecate and Balak.

What I aim to do for the future:

I would want to set up some on going rp featuring this story. Characters that would work well for it would be older characters such as first generation nimh rats and of course any characters that held council positions when the colony was still at the Rosebush. These characters would probably know the most about Enkidu and Persephone. The average colonist would know very little, though the older they are they may remember hearing stories of the incidents that occured in the past. However, this does not exclude other characters. Pretty much anyone is welcome if they're interested.

Where do I want to take this idea? How do I want it to end? I haven't really decided how I want it to end. Partly because I don't want to dictate an ending for it as I feel it would take away from the randomness that is part of life. Anything can happen. The only thing that I do want to happen is that eventually Hecate's brother, Helios will become aware of the truth. I haven't really thought about what to do with Enkidu. But that's part of the reason why I'm posting this on the forum. Suggestions, input, and your interested is much appreciated.

Also I've talked with some folks about tieing character story ideas together. One person in particular is Matthias' player. Him and I have discussed various ideas but haven't really put much of it to rp, and that was a long time ago so we will need to discuss some more. If anyone else would like to talk about possibly linking together some of their ideas with mine please feel free to discuss it with me.

I'm very interested in making this a tp for the muck and making it something that other people can take part in and even add a little of their own ideas to as well. Where the future of this rp goes is up for discussion and I look forward to input from y'all.
