Connecting to NIMHmuck
To connect to NIMHmuck, just point your favorite MU* client (or telnet client) to:
Server Name: muck.nimhmuck.org
Port: 4567 (or use this link)
Don't feel like downloading a muck client? No problem! You can also connect with one of the following options:
- Flash Client - Recommended for most users.
- Java applet - If you don't have flash installed, or the client doesn't work for whatever reason, try this one. Note: can take a while to load.
Once you are connected, type 'connect guest guest' (without quotes) to log in as a guest. If you need any help, you can page a wizard or another player by using the page command: page [player]=[message]
The muck is usually the most active during the hours of 5 - 12 PM MST (GMT -7), but you can sometimes catch people on at other times as well.
Recommended Clients
To enjoy your mucking experience better, it is recommended that you use a MU* client instead of telnet, as MU* clients offer a few features that make mucking easier. Here are links to a few of the ones that the wizstaff recommends:
- MuckClient - (Windows, Freeware) A simple client, great for people just starting out on mucks.
- MUSHclient - (Windows, Freeware/Open Source) A very full-featured client; somewhat complex, especially for beginners. Provides some facility for extending its features, making it great for people who like to tinker.
- SimpleMU - (Windows, Shareware) Also full-featured, yet easier to use. Provides a nice middle ground.
- Cantrip - (MacOS X, Freeware) Features triggers and scripting.
- Savitar - (MacOS 8/9/X, Shareware) Another popular client for the Macintosh.
- JamochaMud - (Java, Freeware) If your computer can run Java (at least version 1.1) then you should be able to use this to connect.
- For a list of other Muck clients, try onlineroleplay.com's mud client list or the MUD Client section of Google Directory

- Download and install MuckClient.
- Run MuckClient (by default you can get to it by clicking Start » Programs » Software Internationals » MuckClient, or by double-clicking the MuckClient icon on the desktop).

- In the Host or IP Address box, type muck.nimhmuck.org and in the Port box, type 4567.
